We share Ardentis’ know-how as part of Mercy Ships’ humanitarian project
« Those who do research have the duty to share their knowledge »
Every year, the partnership with the humanitarian project Mercy Ships represents more than 8000 dental treatments provided to the people who normally don’t have access to them. Even if this year the pandemic prevents us from rejoining hospital-ships, Ardentis offered its support through courses and online training.
Ardentis participates to an education program in collaboration with Conakry’s university in Guinea. This project was organized in collaboration with Dr David Ugai, Mercy Ships’ member and our person of contact on site for this project.
Ardentis offers its collaborators an opportunity to realize humanitarian projects. Our goal is to do it on a clear, organized, financially sustainable and above all safe manner.
« Thanks to the diversity of its collaborators, Ardentis commits to bring practical help to the unfortunates while offering a highly enlightening experience both on the personal and professional level. Shall it be online or on-site, transmission of knowledge is a fundamental basis to develop international support. »
Our implication not only consists in the training of students in dental medicine from Gamal Abdel Nasser University in Conakry Guinea but also in providing support to health’ network on Mercy Ships’ hospital-ships.
« Aware of our role in terms of international support, we have taken part in Mercy Ships’ project since Mai 1st 2020. Since then, our volunteer dentists already dispensed online courses to 20 students. »
From Ardentis’ clinics, 12 dentists are offering time to pass their knowledge to students through online courses. The pace of the sessions is once every week and tackles a variety of themes presented by our volunteer dentists.
As we were unable to fulfill our on-site mission, this project gave us the opportunity to tangibly help the students at Conakry’s university with our dentists’ knowledge and expertise.
The topics for these courses were chosen in accordance with local needs shared by Dr David Ugai. The subjects were focused on oral surgery, endodontics, child dentistry, adhesive dentistry, and periodontology.
Dr Rodrigo Cabezas Martin is honored to share his know-how in dental medicine with Gamal Abdel Nasser university’ student in Conakry in Guinea. As a specialist in periodontology, he gives several online seminaries to share Ardentis’ clinics’ practices with the students in Guinea.
Our dentists were then chosen from their domains of expertise as most of them already have a proven academic activity.
Until now this experience has been an enlightening success for both the students and our collaborators. Therefore, it is with a great enthusiasm that we renew our engagement alongside Mercy Ships for 2022.
Mercy Ships is an NGO founded in 1978 in Switzerland. It offers free and first quality surgeries to the less fortunate people around the globe thanks to its hospital-ships. These ships are adapted to practice a variety of essential surgical specializations for a great part of sub-Saharan Africa’s population who does not have access to safe and efficient health services.
